Our 2 Step Process To Your Recommended Dumpster
1. Determine Total Roofing Squares (not the same as square footage)
- 1 roofing square is the equivalent of 100 square feet of shingles.
- 3 bundles of shingles = 1 roofing square = aprox 250 lbs
If you know how many bundles you need to buy, you're almost there.
If you need to purchase 30 bundles of asphalt shingles, you have a 10 square roof (30 divided by 3 = 10). If you have 2 layers of asphalt shingles on your roof, you have a total of 20 square.
If you do not know your Total Roofing Squares use the link below or just ask your roofing company.

2. Asphalt Shingle Dumpster Size Guide
Use the table below to determine what size container you will need for asphalt shingles. Make sure to factor in the number of layers to be removed. For example 20 square X 2 layers = 40sq. Be aware that if you have cedar shakes to remove you will need a bigger dumpster. For example - If you have 10 roofing squares of cedar shakes you will need a 10 yard container.
